Thierry Nabeth has been working at INSEAD as a researcher since 1993, related to the application of advanced information technologies (in particular agent enhanced, personalized, collaborative digital environments and knowledge management systems) to support new forms of learning (experiential learning, learning communities, human factors and knowledge dissemination), and new models of organisations (agile, distributed and knowledge intensive organisations).
His work is in particular focussed in investigation of the next generation of agent enhanced collaborative platforms supporting the knowledge exchange in communities, both from a technical perspective (what are the mechanisms supporting and stimulating collaboration), usage perspective (how to translate this in term of user’s experience) and sociological perspective (what motivate users participation).
Recent fields of research included the application of Web 2.0 for enterprise collaboration as well as the support of attention in a social context. More specifically, his research includes: very flexible and lively "information architectures" (following some of the Web 2.0 principles), how can artificial agents be used in the context of digital social environment (Wikis and Blogs, online social networking, virtual community systems, collaborative learning systems, multi-users virtual reality systems) to design systems that are more personalized (covering deep user modelling aspects such as style or motivation), decentralized (relying on decentralised control and principle of emergence), active (actively supporting the work processes), and supportive of the social process (support for trust creation, reputation building, group forming, etc).
Thierry Nabeth is or has been involved in a variety of European research projects related to the design of intelligent learning systems, advanced knowledge management systems. For instance, he is the genitor and the coordinator of the AtGentive project, a STREP European project investigating the support of attention in agent enhanced e-learning systems. Thierry Nabeth is also a workpackage leader in the FIDIS (Future of Identity in the Information Society) Network of Excellence, where he is the main person responsible for the elaboration of the FIDIS Identity Wiki, aiming at the definition of the concept of Identity in the consortium. He is also involved in several projects related to the management of competence, such as the Integrated Project TenCompetence or Comenius project CareerGuide.
