Objectives

The objective of this workpackage is to specify the design of the technical infrastructure of the attentive agent component, as well as the digital learning environments in which these agents will be embedded. It will also include the production of guidelines, methodological materials and any other actions that will be useful for operating the attentive agents in the learning environments, or making it more effective.

A particular attention will be put on the modularity of the architecture (in particular in the way that the agent component is plugged into the learning platforms), on the flexibility and iterative nature of the approach, and on the taking into account of the user feedback (XP-programming and user-centered approach will be used).

Description of work

• T2.1: Design specification of the Attentive agent component. This first step will consist in the definition of the internal architecture of the attentive agent (including components for the detection of the user attention, attention reasoning, intervention, and user interface via artificial characters), and the definition of an interface for embedding it in a digital environment.
• T2.2: Design specification of the collaborative e-learning platforms in which these platforms will be embedded. This work will consist in specifying the mechanisms that will be implemented for adapting the platforms for the modular integration (embedding) of the Attentive agent component.
• T2.3: Definition and specification of cognitive interaction improvement. This work will in consist in specifying approaches and mechanisms for validating and improving the user-interaction via observation of user interaction (in particular via the use of eye-tracking)
• T2.4: Guidelines, and Methodological materials. These materials will help to document how to deploy, populate with content, and operate the virtual environments.
